Community Outreach

HealthLinc is fortunate to serve in a dynamic community.  We actively foster relationships with other community organizations and reach out to those in need.

We have several staff members whose sole responsibility is to do community outreach, identifying individuals who need our services, acting as a liaison with community organizations, and otherwise assuring that we do all we can to meet the needs of our community.

HealthLinc physicians and staff are also available to speak at area meetings.  We are always willing to take the time to help educate the public on various health issues and explain the health needs of the uninsured and those of limited financial means.

We welcome the opportunity to work together to address the “big picture” for the poor which includes issues involving transportation, housing, food/nutrition, and many other concerns.  As an organization, HealthLinc partners with numerous community organizations, including Caring Place, Spring Valley, Alice’s House, Greenwich House, Morain House, the United Way, Valparaiso University, Porter-Starke Services, P-Supp, and many others.

In addition, HealthLinc physicians and staff are actively involved in various professional and community organizations, such as the Indiana Primary Health Care Association, Valparaiso Transportation Committee, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, Kiwanis, the Tobacco Education and Prevention Coalition for Porter County, the Wellness Coalition of Porter County, and the Healthcare Financial Management Association

We also benefit from work-study students, interns, and medical students who are with us for defined periods of time and provide much-needed extra hands and bursts of fresh energy.  They provide links with educational institutions and help open career paths for young adults who may be interested in health care for those who “fall in the cracks” of our health care system.
