As a true community organization, HealthLinc encourages community members to volunteer their time and talents to help us serve our patients. We often find extra hands helpful.
Clerical Support
Providing health care requires the gathering and organization of a wide range of information, all of which needs to be kept organized. Our phones need to be answered and the office kept tidy even as we work in somewhat cozy space. Clerical volunteers - who are trained on maintaining confidentiality – help us keep our clinic running smoothly. They enable our staff to focus on caring for patients, knowing that administrative tasks are being handled by generous, energetic community members.
Reach Out and Read
Reach Out and Read (ROR) is a nationwide initiative that promotes early reading by giving books to young children and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud to their children. Recognizing that parents often have reasons to bring their children to the doctor, these conversations take place in pediatric exam rooms across the country, including HealthLinc. Doctors and nurse practitioners know that growing up healthy includes growing up with books. The ROR program provides the tools to help promote children’s development and later success in school and in life. HealthLinc volunteers donate books and read to children as they wait in the waiting room.
Special Projects
From time to time, HealthLinc can benefit from people who help with special projects, such as fundraising events, decorating our space, or the sewing of cloth exam gowns for our patients. We appreciate those who give of their special talents; they help us create a positive, sustainable, healthy environment for our patients and our community. We also appreciate the support of the United Way Day of Caring each summer.
